Therapeutic actions: Chlorhexidine is an antiseptic, which exerts specific bactericidal and bacteriostatic effect depending on the concentration. The drug exerts fungicidal, bacteriostatic, bactericidal, antiviral in concentration 0.05%. The drug is stable after per cutaneous administration and remains in the skin in low concentration which is enough to exert bactericidal effect. The drug maintains its activity when mixed with internal fluids like blood, purulence, specific discharge and organic substances. The drug rarely causes allergic reactions, skin and tissue irritation.

Indications:Chlohexidine is used as a medical product in treatment of different infections and for disinfection. The 0,05%-0,2% concentrations of the preparation are be used in:

  • Prophylaxis of sexually transmitted infections
  • Disinfection of skin
  • Purulent wounds
  • Infected burns
  • Bacterial and fungal disease of the skin and mucous membranes including dentistry
  • Surgery
  • Urology
  • Gynecology

Chlorhexidine 0,05% preparations are mainly used for:

  • Treatment of wounds and burned skin
  • Treatment of infected skin cracks, rough skin and mucous membranes.

Contraindications and cautions: The preparation must not be used in the following conditions:

  • Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparations
  • Dermatitis

Chlorhexidine should be used with caution in:

  • Young age
  • Pregnancy
  • Lactation period

The preparation must be used with extreme caution in patients with accessible craniocerebral trauma, spinal cord injury or perforation of the tympanic membrane, it must not interact with the endogenous membranes. Avoid contact of the preparation with the eyes. Bactericidal effect of the preparation is increased with temperature.
