  • moxifloxacin

Therapeutic actions: Avelox is a bactericidal antibacterial preparation with a broad action spectrum. Antibacterial effect is associated with the inhibiting of the enzymes called topoisomerase II and IV. This leads to breakdown of the DNA biosynthesis that is ultimately fatal for the microorganisms. Avelox is effective against a wide variety of gram negative and gram-positive microorganisms, anaerobic, aciduric bacteria.

Indications: Avelox is approved to treat infections in adults caused by sensitive to the moxifloxacin microorganisms:

  • Acute sinusitis
  • Aggravation of the chronic bronchitis
  • Pneumonia
  • Skin and soft tissue infections

Contraindications and cautions: Avelox is contraindicated in:

  • Hypersensitivity to any of the medication ingredients
  • Pregnancy
  • Breastfeeding

Avelox should be used with caution:

  • CNS disorders
  • Seizures
  • Prolonged QT interval
  • Low potassium blood levels
  • Bradycardia
  • Acute myocardium ischaemia
  • Abnormal heart rhythm
