Active Ingredients:
- Acyclovir
Therapeutic actions: Herpevir contains the active ingredient Acyclovir that belongs to a group of medicines caused antiviral agents. Herpevir works by acting on viral DNA resulting in inability of viruses to multiply. Herpevir is effective against Herpes simplex type 1 and 2 and Cytomegalovirus. Herpevir also exerts immune-modulatory action.
Indications:Herpevir is indicated in the following conditions:
- Herpes of the skin and mucous lining
- Genital herpes
- Shingles
- Chickenpox.
Contraindications and cautions: Herpevir should not be used in:
- Individual intolerance of Herpevir
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding

Adverse effects: There are possible side-effects associated with this medicine that can affect individuals in different ways. If a side effect is stated here, that does not necessarily mean the fact that all people using Herpevir will experience it or any other.
The most common side effects include:
- Painful sensation
- Ithcing
- Skin rash
- Vulvitis
- Systemic side effects(for tablets): headache, neurologic disorders, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, kidney dysfunction

Herpevir may interact with the following medicines:
- Phenytoin(Herpevir decreases phenytoin blood levels)
- Probenecid may increase acyclovir blood levels
- Tenofovir(blood level of tenofovir may be increased when used in conjunction with herpevir)
