Cold and Flu
In most cases the cold is a type of virus infestation of upper respiratory tract, that leads to inflammation of the mucous membranes, that are located in the region. Normal symptoms for a cold are rhinorrhea, sneezing, pharyngitis, etc.
Virus infection which we call the "Common Cold" can often be treated without the use of drugs, it often can be cured by resting and intake of large amounts of hot non-alcoholic fluids, and some additional medicine to decrease the severeness of the symptoms.
Smoking can lead to development of the common cold into a more serious disease, especially in children because it paralyzes the ciliated cells, which provide the cleanliness of respiratory tract.
On the other hand Flu or the Influenza virus is a severe virus infection, that affects men, women and children during whole life time. Flu infections are sometimes eve lethal especially to children and elders. Flu epidemic happen once a year during the cold part of the year and affect nearly 15% of all the Earths population. It has been counted that all through our life one year is spent on being ill with Influenza or Severe Respiratory Disease.
Flu symptoms which can be easily identified are the following:
- Rhinorrhea(runny nose)
- Pharyngitis(Sore throat)
- Body pain
- Chills
- Coughing
- Moderate Fever
- Headache
Normal recovery time for a Flu is about 1 to 2 weeks if the treatment is correct and you are using anti-virus medicine. Many possible incidents of influenza can be prevented by annual vaccination.
