Drug name: Pharmatex.

Active Ingredients: benzalkonium chloride

Therapeutic actions: Pharmatex is a modern not hormonal contraceptive means made in France, which has no contra-indications and fits any woman. Pharmatex is a contraceptive preparation for local application. It also exerts anti-microbe influence.

Indications: Pharmatex is simultaneously spermicide and an antiseptic. In vitro the preparation is effective against Neisseria Gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia spp., Trichomonas Vaginalis, a virus of a Herpes type 2, Staphylococcus Aureus. The preparation has little effect on Mycoplasma spp. And the medicine is not efficacious against Gardnerelia Vaginalis, Candida Albicans, Haernophilus Ducreyl and Treponema Pallidum. The preparation does not injure normal microflora of a vagina and a hormonal cycle.

Contraindications and cautions: Use in patients with a known hypersensitivity to benzalkonium chloride. If irritation of vagina or penis occurs the use of product should cease. The product should only be recommended to individuals who understand the appropriate use of the agent.

Soap and other anionic surfactants even in trace amounts inactivate this spermicide. Bathing or swimming must be avoided as the efficiency of the product is affected.
