Active Ingredients:
Pioglitazone
Therapeutic actions: Pioglitazone lowers blood glucose levels by increasing the liver, fat and muscle cells sensitivity to insulin. Pioglitazone liver production of glucose, and preserves pancreatic cells which produce insulin. The overall effect constitutes in prevention of developing high glucose levels in the blood.
Indications: Pioglitazone is usualy used in alone or in combination with metformine, insulin, sulfonylurea to treat Diabetes mellitus Type 2.
Also some research suggests that Pioglitazone can be used to treat fatty liver, but this indication is only experimental.
Contraindications and cautions: Use with caution in:
- Elders and people over 75 years old
- if you ever have a history of heart disease
- People who suffer from hemoglobin insufficiency
- Macular oedema
Not to be used in
- Heart failure
- Diabetic ketoacidosis
- Liver disfunction
- Kidney dialysis
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding
- Galactose intolerance (tablets contain lactose).
- Children or adolescents younger then 18 years old

- Eyesight disturbances
- Weight gain
- Decreased sense of touch
- Upper airway infections
- Arthralgia
- Excessive fluid retention in the body tissues, resulting in swelling (oedema)
- Erectile dysfunction
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Flatulence
- Insomnia
- Hypoglycaemia if taken in combination with a sulphonylurea medicine or insulin
- Anaemia
- Glycosuria
- Haematuria
- Proteinuria
- Sweating
