Active Ingredients:
- Dexamethasone,
- neomycin
Dexazon contains two active ingredients : Dexamethasone and neomycin.
Dexamethasone belongs to a type of known as corticosteroids. Corticosteroids work by reducing inflammation. is caused by the release of chemicals after irritation or reaction. These chemicals cause blood vessels to widen. As a result redness, pain, itching and swelling of the affected area occur. Corticosteroids decrease the amount of these chemicals, reducing inflammation symptoms.
Neomycin is a antibiotic of aminoglycosides family. Neomycin works by binding to proteins structure of the bacteria's cells. As a result, bacteria start to produce the abnormal proteins.
The production of these abnormal proteins causes bacteria to die.
Indications: The combination of Dexamethasone and neomycin eye drops is used to treat eye infection and to reduce inflammation associated with this infections.
Contraindications and cautions:
You should not use Dexazon :
- if your eye infection is caused by a Mycobacteria, eg tuberculosis
- if you have eye inflammation that is caused by fungi
- if you experience eye infection that is manifested with pus
- if you have viral eye infection
You should talk with your health care provider prior to taking Dexazon if you experience the following conditions:
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding
Warning!
- Do not drive or operate machinery while taking Dexamethasone / neomycin eye drops.
- Intensive or prolonged use of Dexamethasone / neomycin to the eye may increase the intraocular pressure, that is the cause of glaucoma, cataracts and damage of the optic nerve.
- Do not take Dexamethasone / neomycin eye drops by mouth.
- Ask your health care provider about the risk of taking Dexazon in children.
- Shake the bottle properly before taking Dexamethasone / neomycin eye drops.
- Your doctor should regularly check your intraocular pressure.
- Do not touch the tube opening to any surface to avoid contamination of the microorganisms.
Contraindications and cautions:
Adverse effects: There are possible side-effects associated with this that can affect individuals in different ways. If a side effect is stated here, that does not necessarily mean the fact that all people using will experience it or any other.
- Increased intraocular pressure.
- Swelling and itching in the eye
- Redness and painful sensation of conjunctiva
- blurred vision
- sensitivity to light
