Diclofenac
Therapeutic actions: Diclofenac belongs to a class of drugs called NSAID's or non-steroidal anti inflammatory drugs. It stops the production of histamine that causes inflammation and pain.
Indications: Diclofenac ophthalmic is used to treat eye pain, swelling, redness or sensitivity to light that come with eye surgery or infection.
Contraindications and cautions: Be sure to mention to your doctor any of the following:
- If you ever had diabetes, arthritis, dry eye syndrome, any condition that makes you bleed easily.
- If you are planning to become pregnant, are pregnant or you are breast-feeding.
- If you wear contact lenses or have any eye impairment.
- If you have herpes infection
Adverse effects: There are possible side-effects associated with this medicine that can affect individuals in different ways. If a side effect is stated here, that does not necessarily mean the fact that all people using diclofenac sodium will experience it or any other.
Tell your doctor about any side-effects that you experience. Some of them are:
- burning
- itchy eyes
- chills
- stomach pain
- runny nose
- upset stomach
- stinging of the eye
- dizziness
- vomiting
- difficulty sleeping
- headache
- dizziness
- fever
- chills
- runny nose
Some side effects can be serious. If you experience any of these symptoms, call your doctor immediately:
- swelling
- eye discharge
- red eyes
- eye pain
- Feeling of eye discomfort
- sensitivity to light
- blurred vision
- teary eyes

IF the answer is positive you may need a dosage adjustments.
