Timolol
Therapeutic actions: Timolol belongs to a group of drugs called beta blockers. Like other beta blockers, it blocks the action of sympathetic nervous system (heart effects). In addition to the heart effects, Timolol also reduces intra-ocular pressure that in its turn reduces the damage to the optic nerve and loss of sight during Glaucoma.
Indications: Oftan Timolol is mainly used for Glaucoma treatment. Any other eye dysfunction that is characterized by increased eye pressure may also be treated with Timolol. Consult with your doctor for possible unmentioned indications.
Contraindications and cautions: Consult your doctor or health care provider before using Timolol if any of the following apply to you:
- If you have ever suffered from allergy to Timolol, beta-blockers, or any other drugs.
- You are currently using another type of eye medication
- If you ever experienced the following conditions be sure to report it to your health care provider:
- Ling disease
- Heart failure
- Thyroid
- heart disease
- diabetes
- myasthenia gravis
- If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant
- If you were having dental or any other types of surgery.
- If you have any eye related problems or dysfunctions
- If you were lenses or your vision is impaired

Timolol side effects are:
- eye irritation
- upset stomach
- double vision
- dizziness
- headache
- depression
Immediately call your doctor if any of the following occur:
- sudden weight gain
- slow or irregular heartbeat
- swelling of the feet or lower legs
- fainting
- difficulty breathing
