Drug name: Oftaquix
Active Ingredients:
- Levofloxacin
Levofloxacin kills a wide variety of bacteria that cause infection. Levofloxacin works by entering the bacterial cells and inhibiting a bacterial enzyme known as DNA-gyrase. This enzyme is essential for the bacteria to replicate and repair the genetic material (DNA). Levofloxacin is effective against Gram-positive bacteria:Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes; and Gram-negative bacteria: Branhamella (Moraxella) catarrhalis, Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Indications:
Levofloxacin is used to treat eye infection caused by levofloxacin susceptible microorganisms. Levofloxacin drops is also used to treat the purulent complications after ocular surgery.
Contraindications and cautions:
You should not Levofloxacin :
- If you have hypersensitivity or to any of Oftaquix ingredients.
- If you are pregnant.
- If you are breastfeeding.
You should use this with caution in children.
Warning!
- Do not wear contact lenses while you are taking Levofloxacin eye drops.
- Do not apply Levofloxacin eye drop sub conjunctiva or directly to ocular anterior chamber
- Do not touch the tube opening to any surface to avoid contamination of the microorganisms.
- Do not use other ophtalmic solutions while you taking Oftaquix.
Adverse effects: There are possible side-effects associated with this medicine that can affect individuals in different ways. If a side effect is stated here, that does not necessarily mean the fact that all people using Oftaquix will experience it or any other.
- Itching
- Burning
- Stinging
- Irriration
- Headache
- Painful sensation in the eye
- Eyelid edema
- Blepharitis
- Rinitis
- Dermatitis
