Cordaflex

Drug name: Cordaflex

Active Ingredients:

  • Nifedipine

Therapeutic actions: The active ingredient of Nifedipine belongs to a group of medicines called calcium channels blockers. Nifedipine works by blocking a certain number of calcium channels that are found in the walls of the blood vessels. Calcium ions enter the muscle cells of the vessels and cause them to constrict. By blocking calcium channels, Nifedipine decreases the number of calcium inside the cells, resulting in relaxing of muscle cells and reducing high blood pressure inside the blood vessels. Nifedipine reduces the spasm and dilates coronary and peripheral arterial vessels, decreases total peripheral resistance, afterload and heart requirement in oxygen. Nifedipine doesn't act on atrioventricular node and doesn't exert antiarrhythmic action.
