Drug name: Prosterid
Active Ingredients:
Finasteride
Therapeutic actions: Finasteride is antiandrogenic medication that works by inhibiting 5-alpha reductase – intracellular ferment. 5-alfa reductase is responsible for converting testosterone to a more active substance called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Inhibiting 5-alpha reductase decreases the activation of testosterone. Finasteride doesn't bind to androgenic receptors.
Finasteride suppresses the stimulating effect of dihydrotestosterone on the adenoma prostate development as a result decreases the manifestation of the symptoms related to adenoma prostate.
Indications: Prosterid is used to treat prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) reaching the following goals:
- Decreasing the size of prostate glands
- Symptoms improvements,
- Reducing the risk of acute urinary retention
- In a dosage of 1mg Finasteride is used to treat baldness.
Contraindications and cautions:
You should not use Finasteride in the following conditions:
- allergy to finasteride
- Cancer of prostate gland
- Uropathy
- Kidney and liver failure
