Active Ingredients: Sildenafil citrate

Therapeutic actions: The active ingredient of Viagra tablets is sildenafil citrate. Viagra prevents the action of phosphodiesterase type 5 which breaks down cyclic GMP in the blood vessel walls. Cyclic GMP relaxes blood muscles and increases blood flow to penis. Penis becomes erect and rigid. Inhibiting the action of phosphodiesterase type 5 causes stopping the breakdown of cyclic GMP. Blood vessels can be dilated for longer, increasing blood flow to the penis and maintaining an erection.

Indications: Viagra is used to treat:

  • erectile dysfunction(Impotence) in men.

Contraindications and cautions:
You should not use Viagra :

  • in adolescents or children under 18 years of age
  • if you are women
  • Severely liver insufficiency
  • If you have galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption.
  • if you have severe heart disorders (unstable angina , heart failure)
  • if have recently had a heart attack
  • if you have low blood pressure
  • if you taking nitrate medications, eg glyceryl trinitrate
  • if you have a stroke
  • If you have ever experienced an eye condition called non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION). This condition is manifested with loss of vision in one or both eyes

  • if you have physical abnormality of the penis, such as severe curvature, scarring or Peyronie's disease

  • an antifungal medication such as itraconazole (Sporanox) or ketoconazole (Nizoral)
  • carbamazepine (Tegretol), phenobarbital (Luminal), or phenytoin (Dilantin)
  • rifampin (Rifadin, Rimactane) or rifabutin (Mycobutin).
