Active Ingredients:

  • Ethamsylate

Therapeutic actions:  Etamsylate is a hemostatic preparation which also exerts angio protective and pro-aggregative effects. The drug also stimulates the formation of thrombocytes and their release from the bone marrow. If used continuously the ability to form thrombs is increased. The preparation does not cause hyper-coagulation, thrombosis and vessel constriction. Restores pathologically changed bleeding time. Does not affect normal homeostasis parameters.  After discontinuing the treatment effects of the preparation can be monitored for 5-8 days.

Indications:  Ethamsylate is indicated in prophylaxis and arrest of bleeding in:

  • Parenchymal and capillary bleeding
  • Secondary bleeding in thrombocytopenia and thrombocytopathia
  • Hypocoagulation
  • Hematuria
  • Intra cranial hemorrhage
  • Nasal bleeding
  • Drug induced bleeding
  • Hemorrhagic vasculitis
  • Hemorrhagic diathesis
  • Diabetic microangiopathy

Contraindications and cautions: The drug must not be used in the following conditions:

  • Hypersensitivity to any components of the preparation
  • Thrombosis
  • Thromboembolia
  • Acute porphyry

The drug must be used with caution in:

  • Bleeding caused by overdose of anticoagulants

Adverse effects: There are possible side-effects associated with this medicine that can affect individuals in different ways. If a side effect is stated here, that does not necessarily mean the fact that all people using Ethamsylate will experience it or any other. The side effects include:
