Drug name: Aescusan

Active Ingredients:

Extract of buckeye seeds,
Thiamine hydrochloride (Vitamin B1)

Therapeutic actions: The main component of buckeye seeds is escin. Escin exerts anti exudative and venotonic action. Exact mechanism of escin's therapeutic action is not known. Probably the extract of buckeye seeds decrease the concentration of lysosomal enzymes, preventing the disruption of mucopolysaccharides in the capillaries' walls. This results in decreasing the symptoms of chronic venous insufficiency(sense of tiredness, itching, pain and edema of the low extremities)

Indications: Aescusan is used to treat:

Chronic venous insufficiency (varicose or post- thrombotic aetiology)
Complications of chronic venous insufficiency
Thrombophlebitis
Varix dilation
Edema
Hemorrhoidal boluses

Contraindications and cautions:

You should not use this medication if you have hypersensitivity or allergy to extract of buckeye seeds or thiamine hydrochloride.
Do not use Aescusan in children under 12 years old
Talk with your doctor if you have severe heart disease or any digestive system disorders.
Do not use Aescusan in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
