Active Ingredients: Calcium and vitamin D3
Type: fat-soluble vitamins and minerals

Therapeutic actions: Constant concentration of calcium in plasma maintains normal coordination of many physiological processes in our body. Calcium participates in formation of bone tissue, tooth mineralization, blood coagulation, in regulation of nerve conduction and muscle contraction, in maintenance of heart activity. Normal level of calcium in plasma is achieved through interaction of vitamin D, parathyroid hormone and calcitonin. Vitamin D regulates absorption of calcium in small intestines.

Indications: Calcium D3 Nikomed - is an additional resource of calcium and vitamin D3 for oour body. It is used as a medicinal and prophylactic mean in:

• Deficiency of calcium and vitamin D3, which are caused by a insufficient diet or nutrition disorders, when arrival of calcium and vitamin D3 is inadequate.
• Certain states when the need for calcium and vitamin D3 rises for example during pregnancy, lactation and in children age other 12 years during the period of intensified growth.
• For prophylaxis and treatment of postmenopause and elderly osteoporosis, and osteomalacia.

Contraindications and cautions: Calcium D3 mustn't be used if the concentration of calcium in blood and urine is higher than normal. In such conditions use of Calcium D3 can cause formation of calcium stones or renal insufficiency, decalcifying tumors, such as myelomas, bone metastases, sarcoidosis, over dose of vitamin D3, and also osteoporosis, which is conditioned by immobilization.

Adverse effects: Calcium D3 can cause intestine dysfunction (constipation, gas formation)

Interactions: Tell your doctor or pharmacist what medicines you are already taking, including those bought without a prescription and herbal medicines, before you start treatment with this medicine.
Calcium can amplify absorption of preparation from tetracyclic group, fluorine and iron containing preparations. That's why Calcium D3 must be taken 3 hours before or after taking above listed preparations. In patients using thiazide diuretics in rare cases hypercalcemia was confirmed.
