Clomezol

Drug name: Clomezol

Active Ingredients:

• clotrimazol and neomycin

Therapeutic actions:  

Clomezol contains two active ingredients clotrimazol and neomycin. Clotrimazol is an antimycotic agent that works by interfering with the synthesis of ergosterol. Ergosterol is essential part of the fungal cell wall. Clotrimazol changes the properties of fungal cell wall leading to its permeability. Clotrimazol is effective against dermatophytes, mold fungi, some strains of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, Trichomonas vaginalis.

Neomycin is an antibiotic of the aminoglycoside group. It exerts bactericidal action against a wide variety of microorganisms.

Indications: Clomezol suppositories are approved to treat the following conditions:

• Vulvovaginitis caused by candida albicans
• Trichomoniasis
• Bacterial vaginosis
• Genital superinfections caused by susceptible to clotrimazol infections

Contraindications and cautions:

Clomezol should not be taken in:

• known hypersensitivity or allergy to any of the medication ingredients
• vaginal viral infections
• pregnancy
• breastfeeding

Adverse effects: There are possible side-effects associated with this medicine that can affect individuals in different ways. If a side effect is stated here, that does not necessarily mean the fact that all people using Clomezol  will experience it or any other.

• The most common Clomezol side effects include: local irritation, redness, itching, pain
