Active Ingredients: Didrogesteron, Estradiol Hemihydrate

Therapeutic actions: Femoston is a combined preparation. A box consists of two types of tablets: the first type contain estradiol hemihydrate a naturally occurring form of oestrogen – women sex hormone, and the second type contains two ingridients estradiol hemihydrate and dydrogesterone – a synthetic progesterone. During the menopause period woman ovaries tend to produce less sex hormones resulting in specific symptoms of the menopause. During that period hormonal replacement therapy is used to ease the hormonal change and gradually let the body adjust to new conditions. Progesteron or dydrogesterone on the over hand is also effective in preventing the overgrowth of womb endometrial lining that occurs due to the effect of oestrogens and can lead to womb cancer. And lastly Femoston may prevent osteoporosis by stopping the the wash-out of calcium from the bones.

Indications: Femoston is used in th following conditions:
To treat menopause and its symptoms: hot flushes, irregular periods, night sweats, vaginal dryness or ithcing an etc.
Prevention of osteoporosis in women who cannot take the medicine normally prescribed to treat that condition.

Contraindications and cautions: Certain procedures should be made when taking HRT like Femoden such are:

  • Regular check-ups should be performed to know the condition of your body and possible changes that have occurred due to the therapy.
  • Women on HRT should examine their own breasts regularly if any changes occur consult your doctor immediately.
  • If you have ever experienced heart problems you should discuss the possible risks of HRT with your doctor
  • If you plan on having surgery or you are immobile for a long period then your doctor may consider forbidding you the use of HRT.
  • The medicine should usually cause bleeding in the end of the month if the bleeding persists or reoccurs after a period of time consult your health care provider.
  • A women can still become pregnant after here last menses within a year or two meaning that Contraception may sometimes be required. If using HRT only barrier methods of contraception should be used.

The drug should be used with caution if:

  • Breast-cancer is suspected or was surgically removed in the past
  • You have cancer on any stage of development
  • You have experienced unexplained vaginal bleeding
  • You have just recovered from a heart attack
  • You have Angina pectoris
  • You have Liver dysfunction in the developing stages
  • You are pregnant plan to become pregnant or you are breastfeeding
  • You have lactose intolerance due to the fact that Femoden contains lactose.
  • You are hypersensitive to any components in the preparation.
