Drug name: Folliculin
Active Ingredients:
- Complex of natural estrogens
Therapeutic actions: Folliculin is a natural follicular hormone that exerts specific estrogen action similar to the action of female sex hormones. Estrogens are female sex hormones produced by ovarium and adrenal cortical layer are essential for the development of female genitals, secondary sexual character. Female sex hormones also contributes to the proliferation of endometrial cells. In combination with progesteron takes part in regulation of menstrual cycle.
Indications: Folliculin is indicated in insufficient ovary function, skin disease(acne, hyperthrichosis), amenorrhea, hypomenorrhea, oligomenorrhea.
Contraindications and cautions: Folliculin should not be used in the following conditions:
- Tumors of the female genitals, mammary gland and other organs
- Mastopathy
- Endomethritis(inflammation of the uterus lining)
- Disposition to uterus bleedings
- Hyperestrogenic climax phase
- Liver and kidney disease
- Hyperproteinemia
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding

- Folliculin may cause the following side effects: uterine bleedings, premenstrual syndrome, vaginal candidosis, changes in cervical secretion, discharges from the mammary gland, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, jaundice, heart attack, thromboembolia of the pulmonary artery, thrombophlebitis, headache, dizziness depression, deficiency of folic acid, high calcium blood level, edema, erythema, skin rash, hair loss, hirsutism, libodo changes.

- Folliculin may interact with ampicillin, tetracycline, neomycin, sulfanilamids that lower Folliculin blood levels.
- Acid ascorbic increases folliculin blood levels.
- Folliclin enhances the effects of tricyclic antidepressants, corticosteroids, hormones of the thyroid gland.
- Phenobarbital, rifampicin reduces follicular activity.
