Active Ingredients:
Hydroxyprogesterone
Therapeutic actions: Hydroxyprogesterone caproate is an analogue of progesterone which I produced in the yellow body of the ovaries. After one time injeaction the drug works for 7-14 days. By binding with receptors the drug enters the nucleus and activates the synthesis of RNA. It contributes to change in the mucous membrane of the womb from proliferation in to the secretory form thus helping in the egg development and implantation. The action is the same as the natural hormone.
Indications: Oxiprogesterone is used to treat the following conditions:
- Reccurent miscarriages with identified progesterone insufficiency
- Amenorrhea
- Vaginal bleeding
Contraindications and cautions: In the following conditions the use of the drug should be discussed with your doctor:
- Hepatitis
- Renal insufficiency
- Mammary gland or genitals cancer
- Disposition to thrombosis.
- Heart related disease
- Hypertension
- Diabetes
- Asthma
- Epilepsy
- Migraines
- Depression
- Pregnancy
- Lactation period
- Hyperlipoproteinemia
Adverse effects: There are possible side-effects associated with this medicine that can affect individuals in different ways. - From the CNS: somnulence, headache, depression, apathy, disforia
- From the Gastro-intestinal system: hepatitis, vomiting, nausea, decreased appetite, cholecystitis.
- From the Urogenital system: decreased libido, short menstrual period, unexpected bleeding.
- From Cardio-Vascular system: hypertension, , swelling, thromboembolia, thromboflebitis.
- From the endocrine system: galactorhea, alopecia, weight gain, mammary gland enlargement and pain. Hyrsutism
- Local reactions: itching, burning, rash, pain in the application spot.
