Drug name: Zalain
Active Ingredients:
Sertaconazole
Therapeutic actions: Zalain contains the active ingredient sertaconazole that belongs to a group of medication called antimycotic(antifungal). Sertaconazole works by interfering the production of ergosterol that is essential component for the fungi growth. This in its turn makes fungi nonviable and fungi die. Zalain is effective against Trychophyton ,Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Pytirosporum orbiculare, Microsporum as well as some strains of Gram-positive bacteria including Streptococcus , Staphylococcus and Trichomonas vaginalis. Sertaconazole works within 7 days. It means that 1 dosage of sertaconazole is usually enough for the full recovery.
Indications: Zalain is used to treat vaginal inflammation caused by fungi(vagitis and vulvovaginitis).
Contraindications and cautions:
- You should not use this medication if you have hypersensitivity to sertaconazole or to other medication of imidazol groups.
- You should use Zalain with caution in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Warning!
- Wash your genitals with basic(alkaline) soap before intravaginal use of Sertaconazole.
- If you suffer from vulvitis caused by Candida albicans you should get systemic treatment as well.
- Try to avoid sexual intercourse while taking this medication.
- You can use sertaconazole while periods.
- Do not use condoms or diaphragms while taking this medication.
Adverse effects: There are possible side-effects associated with this medicine that can affect individuals in different ways. If a side effect is stated here, that does not necessarily mean the fact that all people using Zalain will experience it or any other.
- Itching in the vagina
- Burning sensation in the vagina
- Skin rash
